In years past we typically held a baptismal service every January after the rainy season had ended and the swollen, muddy rivers subsided. It is always a wonderful time of singing and praising the Lord as those who have been waiting throughout the year to be baptized are deeply moved and filled with the joy of following the Lord in baptism. But with the incredible growth in our evangelism outreach this year the “old way” of doing things was consumed by a fire and passion in the hearts of those coming to Jesus.

Shortly after our “normal” January baptismal service we had a large number of new believers  from every walk of life wanting to be baptized but not wanting to wait, so a second service was held at the end of March. The service included a special blessing from the Lord as three of our older children from Land of Judah were baptized that day by Donna Nidia, our orphanage director.

Then again in May another group of new believers were asking to be baptized and even though the recent rains had muddied the water, the service went forward. The Lord blessed in a special way that day as a man that was watching the event from a distance was moved in his heart, repented and was baptized as well.

Finally, in November with the rainy season in full swing and many of the dirt roads impassible due to erosion, the Lord provided yet another very special baptismal service, this time at Land of Judah. It was the first time we have ever baptized at LOJ and although it took some improvising, three more of our children were baptized. So beautiful yet powerful as the younger children participated in the service and then watched the older boys being baptized.

We look forward with anticipation and great joy to what the Lord has in store for 2011, knowing full well that;

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.” II Peter 3: 9

  1. Praise God!

    The Keys given to Peter: Acts 2:38

    Acts 2:37-39
    37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
    38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
    39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

  2. Thanks for the update. Great to hear about the outpouring of the Spirit. Prayers are with you.
